Ginobili Returns to the Spurs

With Ginóbili’s return, the Spurs will certainly lit up their NBA champions’ goal. The Argentinean scored 23 points including 12 in the last quarter while Tim Duncan added 17 points and the French Tony Parker scored 26 points on Sunday’s victory over Los Angeles Clippers 88-82.

Ginóbili was not present in five games due to a left-hand finger twist. For this past game, he played with his hand bandaged to protect his injury.

“I felt well during all the game. Simply I did not do the shots that I’m used to do, but I should be patient and let this happen by itself”, said the Argentinean who got five of 12 shots from the perimeter and 12 of 13 from the punishment line.

The Spurs begun the season with a 17-3 record and they had a record of 6-6 in their last 12 games; due to this figures Coach Duncan was happy to have Ginóbili return.

“He is our specialist in finishing the games, and a great

Charlotte Bobcats Basketball Tickets – There is Nothing Like Catching the Action Live

The Bobcats have build up a strong fan base quite quickly and this can be seen in the sale of Charlotte Bobcats basketball tickets. The Charlotte Bobcats became a NBA franchise in the year 2003. Earlier that year, the NBA Board of Governors had agreed to give the city of Charlotte their very own basketball team. Bernie Bickerstaff became the head coach and the general manager of the team.

The residents of Charlotte had felt cheated when in 2001 the Charlotte Hornets moved to New Orleans and became the New Orleans Hornets. Ever since then, the residents of Charlotte had been demanding their very own basketball team.

A New Team

With Bickerstaff as the coach, prospects looked great for the team and for the Charlotte Bobcats basketball tickets. Bernie Bickerstaff came with twenty-nine years of experience. He had twelve years of experience as an assistant head coach, ten years as a head coach, and seven years as

The Indiana Pacers Continue to Race Towards Their First NBA Finals Victory

The Indiana Pacers Continue to Race Towards Their First NBA Finals Victory

The Indiana Pacers have experienced success in both the ABA and NBA. However, they continue to strive towards their first NBA championship.

Did you know that the Indiana Pacers played their first NBA game on October 21, 1976? However, the history of the Indiana Pacers as a franchise actually began in 1967.

I have been to rural Indiana, and can attest to the fact that the film “Hoosiers” epitomizes the state’s love for the game of basketball. Indeed, tiny farm towns have become legends in Indiana, by defeating powerhouses from Indianapolis. The Pacers played in the ABA from 1967-1976. Their team’s name indicates their objective of setting the pace in the basketball industry. It also creates connotations of Indiana’s tradition of auto racing, which includes the annual Indianapolis 500.

Later, the Pacers joined the NBA in the 1976-1977 season. Although the team ended the season with a 36-46 record, Don Buse led the NBA in

The New Orleans Hornets Buzz Constantly Towards an NBA Championship

Do you fly to distant cities? During its seasons since the start of the new millennium, the Hornets have racked up the most frequent-flyer miles, buzzing to a new home. Since 2002, the Hornets have flown from Charlotte, to New Orleans, to Oklahoma City, and then back to New Orleans. Here are some fascinating facts about the insect for which the NBA team was named:

• Most hornet species are native to Asia’s tropical regions
• Though huge and loud, hornets are not aggressive
• The hornet’s sting is primarily for killing insects, rather than vertebrates
• Hornets can sting more than one time, unlike bees, which die after singing
• In some European countries, it is illegal to kill hornets or their nests

Why are the Hornets not the Bees or Wasps? Before they were the New Orleans Hornets, the Hornets played as an NBA expansion team in Charlotte, North Carolina, from 1988-2002. The original proposed

The Washington Wizards Play to Make Magic in the NBA Finals Again

Chris Bosh just about single-handedly carried the Toronto Raptors into the playoffs last season. Now he has a much-improved supporting cast. Bosh had 27 points and 11 rebounds to help the Raptors beat the Philadelphia 76ers 95-84 on Wednesday night in the opener for both teams. Jermaine ONeal added 17 and Jason Kapono had 15 for the Raptors, who finished 41-41 last season. The Raptors improved drastically when they acquired ONeal, a six-time All-Star, from the Indiana Pacers on July 9. He appears to be healthy after missing 40 games last season because of lingering pain from a torn ligament in his left knee that was surgically repaired the previous summer. I feel really good, ONeal said. I said from the time I got here that I wanted to be part of the team and bring playoff-type intensity every night. We have to treat every game like a playoff game. The start of the game was moved up an hour to 6 pm because the Philadelphia Phillies and Tampa Bay Rays were set to resume the bottom of the sixth inning of Game 5 of the World Series at 8:37 pm across the street at Citizens Bank Park. Many fans attending the Sixers game were wearing Phillies attire in anticipation of the citys first major professional sports championship since 1983 when Philadelphia swept the Los Angeles Lakers. Still, it was a sparse crowd with pockets of empty seats scattered throughout the 20000-plus seat Wachovia Center. In the second half, chants of Lets Go Phillies! began to resonate in parts of the

The Washington Wizards Play to Make Magic in the NBA Finals Again

The Washington Wizards have already won one NBA Finals, as the Washington Bullets. Although the name has changed, the team plays to win another NBA Championship trophy for the city.

What is in a name? Today’s Washington Wizards have played as the Chicago Packers, the Chicago Zephyrs, the Baltimore Bullets, the Capital Bullets, and the Washington Bullets. Interestingly, however, the team’s name change did not include a change in the city that it represented. Today’s Washington Wizards are the same team as the Washington Bullets.

In 1996, the owner of the Washington Bullets, Abe Polan, chose to change the name of the NBA’s Washington team. That was due to the increasing number of homicides in the city, which began in the early 1990s. The Bullets feared that the name “Bullets” encouraged gun violence. Interestingly, the homicide rate peaked in 2006. Nevertheless, the franchise would ultimately choose “Wizards” over other finalists,

The Obama Effect

The Obama Effect

During a recent segment on an ESPN sports show, Andre Iguodala of the Philadelphia 76ers was being interviewed by one of the show’s reporters. As the hour wound down, the in-studio host asked Mr. Iguodala, “Why did you do the interview outside? It’s so cold, and you’re not even wearing a hat.” Iguodala replied, “Hey that’s how President Obama did it — in the cold with no hat. I have to step it up.”

Iguodala then went on to mention how excited he was about President Obama, and that in his hometown (ironically, Springfield, Illinois), the test scores for Black males have gone up since President Obama was appointed to office.

The ad hoc interview responses of a Black athlete are far from a testament of Barack Obama’s impact on the Black Community. They do, however, point to a state of mind — at least in some sections. For instance, I’ve gotten a significant number of emails from people recapping their Inauguration Day experiences. All
